Karen Louise Sheehan, 76, of Saco, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

Karen was born on June 5, 1946 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, daughter of Maurice and Ruth (Bromfield) Sheehan.  In 1957, at the age of eleven, her family relocated to Saco.  She was educated in Saco Schools, graduating from Thornton Academy, class of 1964.  Karen went on to receive an accounting degree from SMVTI.  Her working career began at Mercy Hospital in Portland where she remained for 20-plus years.  She later transitioned to Southern Maine Medical Center Accounting, retiring from there in 2008.

Karen truly had a heart for service.  For several years she volunteered at the Saco Meals Program, and Saco Food Pantry, generously giving of her time and resources.  She also helped out regularly providing transportation for the residents of Wardwell to doctor appointments.

Karen had many interesting hobbies, including, coin collecting, baseball cards, and beanie babies being at the top of her list.  She was an avid football fan, always rooting for her beloved New England Patriots.  She enjoyed traveling to the White Mountains, and to destinations like New Mexico.  Her favorite trip was a family vacation to Ireland where she kissed the Blarney Stone.   Karen had a love for animals, especially her cat Rudy.

Most of all Karen loved the time spent with her family and friends, especially her great nieces Mackenzie and Bridget.  She will be dearly missed by many.

Karen is predeceased by her parents, Maurice and Ruth Sheehan, and her sister, Maureen Sheehan.

Karen is survived by five siblings; Charles Sheehan, Richard Sheehan and wife Veronica, Patricia Morse and husband Dana, Sandra Sheehan-Linder, and Kathy Alarie and husband Thomas, as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Visitation will be from 11AM to 1PM, with a Funeral Service at 1PM on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James Street, Saco. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
