Leo "Bob" Chretien
Biddeford
Leo "Bob" Chretien, 77, of Biddeford, passed away Sunday morning, October 16, 2022, at his home.
Bob was born in Buxton, Maine on June 10, 1945, a son of Leo and Ruth (Dow) Chretien. He was educated in the Biddeford school system, and graduated from Biddeford High School, class of 1964.
He started his working career with Harry B. Center Auto Sales, while he also began his own business by the name of Bob's Garage which he operated in the evenings.
Bob met the love of his life, Judith Binette, on April 1st 1967, and they married the following year on Thanksgiving Day, November 28th 1968. They began their life together in Biddeford where they raised their wonderful son John. Bob then went to work for the Maine Department of Transportation while continuing to run his garage. In 1993 Bob retired from the DOT after being with them for 25 years, and began expanding his auto repair business by partnering with his son, John. Together they grew the business to include towing and trucking.
Bob's favorite pastime was always tinkering in his shop. He and Judith also enjoyed travel, and even though it was sometimes hard to get Bob to leave home, he always had a great time once they reached their vacation destination. They visited many places across the United States, with some of their favorites being Las Vegas, Pennsylvania and Maryland. Bob and Judith were regulars at Dimillo's Restaurant in Portland, often dining there twice a week. Everybody, from the staff to other customers, knew their names when they arrived.
Most of all Bob loved the time spent with friends and family, especially his wife and son. He will be sadly missed by many.
Bob is predeceased by his brother, John Alfred Chretien.
Bob is survived by his wife Judith Chretien; his son John Alan Chretien and fiancé Anne Hamilton; his two step-grandchildren, Christopher and Brianna; and his brother James Frank Chretien.
