Leo P. Paquette
Old Orchard Beach
Leo P. Paquette, 66, of Old Orchard Beach, passed away unexpectedly early Monday morning on March 27, 2023, at home.
He was born in Biddeford on May 13, 1956, a son of Victor and Jeannine (Angers) Paquette. He was a graduate of Thornton Academy, class of 1975. He also attended SMVTI studying Advanced Automotive Technology.
Earlier, Leo was employed as an inspector for Saco Defense for 18 years. He moved on to Pratt & Whitney for an additional 12 years. It was at this point in his life he found his true calling and a position he valued more than anything, a bus driver for the Saco School Department. Leo or "Mr. Leo", as he was affectionately known by, cherished the relationships he made with the students, teachers and his coworkers. His caring nature led him to start every day with a smile getting his students to and from school in a safe manner. He will be sadly missed by many, but his memory will live on in our hearts.
Leo forged many friendships at the Golden Rooster in Saco. This continued to be an integral part of his life right up until his passing. When time permitted, he enjoyed woodworking, some occasional golf and driving the summer trolleys.
Leo was a man of great faith and a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church. He also was a member of the TMIY (That Man Is You), a program that harmonizes the teachings of the church for men and helps them with leadership roles in faith and in family.
He was predeceased by his father Victor Paquette.
He is survived by his mother Jeannine Paquette, two daughters Laura Paquette and Julie Lyon and husband Jeffrey and by one granddaughter Lily Rose. He is also survived by two brothers Donald Paquette and wife Diane and Michael Paquette and wife Patricia, several nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11AM Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Biddeford.
