Leroy Burton Thompson, 85, of Saco, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2023, at home.

He was born in Biddeford on November 30, 1937, a son of William and Marie (DeSilva) Thompson.

Leroy was educated in the Biddeford school system, and graduated from Biddeford High School. Following high school, he served in the United States Army, from 1956 to 1958.

After the service, Leroy worked for the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a machinist until his retirement. He married the love of his life, Elizabeth Carroll, on February 25, 1961. They began their lives together in Biddeford where they raised their three wonderful children, William, Robert and Elizabeth.

Later in life Leroy and Elizabeth enjoyed many great times together at their second home in Indian Harbor Beach, Florida. Leroy was an avid sports fan, faithfully following baseball, hockey, basketball, and especially football …..with San Francisco being his favorite team.

Most of all he loved the time spent with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by many.

He was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth Thompson on January 10, 2018, his great-granddaughter Brea Bedard, and one sister Eleanor Hill.

He is survived by his three children, William Thompson and wife Lynn of Jupiter Florida, Robert Thompson and wife Ann of Biddeford Maine, and Elizabeth Thompson of Sebastian Florida; by four grandchildren, Dr. Kelsey Thompson and husband Tripp Johnson, Colin Thompson , Zackery Thompson, Brooke Thompson and fiancé Bryan Bedard; and by three great-grandchildren, Bella Bedard, Bebe Bedard, and Zoey Johnson. He is also survived by his uncle Louis DeSilva who he was very close to.

Visiting Hours will be from 11AM – 1PM with a Funeral Service at 1PM on Monday, May 1, 2023, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James Street, Saco. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Biddeford.
