Obituary

Lorraine M. Lamirande

Biddeford

Lorraine M. Lamirande, 97, of Biddeford, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2025, at home.

She was born in Biddeford on January 18, 1928, a daughter of Joseph and Delia (Lamontagne) Baillargeon. Lorraine attended St. Andre's Catholic School in Biddeford.

Unfortunately, her schooling was cut short when her father fell sick, and at the age of 14 Lorraine had to go to work for West Point Pepperell to help provide for her parents. In 1950 she left the mill in order to raise and care for her five children.  Later in life, Lorraine became a housekeeper for Dr. and Mrs. Belliveau, and faithfully served them for 20 years.  Being from the generation of hard work, Lorraine also took an evening position at FMI to help her family with additional income. She later started up her own domestic cleaning service and continued working right up until age 89.

Lorraine loved her children, and loved taking care of her family.  She also had a heart for less fortunate children and became a foster mom for ten years. Three of the children that she took care of for over nine years were from the same family.

Lorraine enjoyed sewing, cooking and her Wednesday and Saturday card games with friends.  She sang for many years in the Notre Dame de Lourdes church choir, and she volunteered with the school lunch program at St. Andre's School.

Most of all she loved her family and the time spent with her children and grandchildren.  She will be remembered as always giving selflessly of herself, and for constantly being concerned about the wellbeing of others.  She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

She was predeceased by her three sisters, Lucille Knox, Yvette Loranger and Therese Petrin; and by her two brothers, Robert Baillargeon and Andre Baillargeon.

She is survived by her five children, Richard Lamirande of Biddeford, Bruce Lamirande and wife Katrina of Colorado, Linda Muriel of Biddeford, Janice Casavant and husband Guy of Biddeford, and Cathy Lamirande of Florida; by four grandchildren; by 1 great-grandchild; as well as by several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Most Holy Trinity Church in Saco.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Biddeford.

To honor Lorraine's memory, the family kindly requests donations to Gosnell Memorial Hospice House & Hospice of Southern Maine https://www.hospiceofsouthernmaine.org/donate
