Lucy M. Bigger, 85, of Arundel, passed away after a short illness early Friday morning on November 3, 2023, at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford.

She was born in Portland on December 24, 1937, a daughter of Clifton and Lucy (Labonte) Arnold.

At an early age, Lucy's family moved to California. She graduated from Chula Vista High School in Chula Vista, California.

In 1958, she moved back to Arundel and was active in community affairs such as the Mothers' Club, Fire Department, Auxiliary, and the Board of Selectmen. She served as Town Clerk, Tax Collector and Treasurer for the Town of Arundel for many years. She also worked for MEMIC in Portland for several years.

Lucy's caring and generous nature led her to another career during retirement. She was a nanny for two families throughout the years, a trusted position in which she took great pride.

Family was most important to Lucy. She cherished the time spent with her children and especially her grandchildren. She will be sadly missed.

One of her favorite pastimes was going out to eat with family and friends. She also took interest in land conservation.

She is survived by her three daughters, Terry Perkins of Arundel, Debra Miller of Kennebunk, and Lisa Daggett and her husband Tony of Kennebunk. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Ashley Perkins of Campobello, South Carolina and Derek Henry and his partner Max Araujo of Saco, and one brother Richard Arnold and his wife Joanne of Lakeland, Florida.
