Obituary

Margaret "Maggie" Branam

Buxton

Margaret "Maggie" Branam, 58, of Buxton, passed away at her home on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, after a courageous two year battle with cancer.

A hero, a fighter, a strong willed, wholehearted, courageous, loving, giving, caring, friendly, amazing, humorous, generous, uplifting, talented, honest, loyal, respectful, witty, joyful, full of life and the list could go on forever. Maggie battled cancer for two years, and two years passed what they thought they said she would. Maggie was competitive and stubborn in a way that she would not take "no" for an answer. She fought until the very end, and on her own terms.

We will always remember Maggie for her way to brighten up any room, any party, event, or any person's mood. It is who she was. We will remember her for her love, her bright, bright smile… and her amazing laugh. We will all remember "that" laugh.

Most importantly, her love. If she has touched us all, in any way, you would know it because of the way she loved you. She would always find a way, big or small, to let you know that she loved you so, so much. Maggie Branam, this world has lost a light, a bright light, and will never be the same.

Heaven has gained an Angel, they are so lucky to have you, but you will truly be missed. Until we all meet again. May you rest in peace, no longer suffer, and save us all a spot.

She was born in Biddeford on September 17, 1962, a daughter of Frank and Georgette "Poune" (Cote) Smith.

Margaret graduated from Thornton Academy, class of 1980. She was an exceptional athlete, lettering in Field Hockey loved Volleyball, Field hockey, and many other competitive sports.

On August 25, 1990, she married her husband Brett Branam.

Maggie was employed by B&M Baked Beans in Portland for fifteen years.

Her hobbies included cooking and baking. She also enjoyed golfing, fishing, and spending time with family and friends at camp. Especially, "Girls weekend". Her family and friends, "Wild Woman" (aka WWW), have created many special memories that they will hold on to cherish forever. These memories include chunkie dunking and a memorable trip to Ireland. She will be sadly missed. We will try to carry on our Christmas tradition in Maggie's memory, but this season will not be the same. Her and Brett's 12 foot Christmas tree and Christmas Eve with the family will be with a heavy heart.

Maggie is survived by her husband of 30 years Brett Branam and six siblings Robert J. Smith, Patricia A. Stenger and her husband Robert, Arthur D. Smith, Hope A. Cote and her husband Steven Maddock, Donna M. Rubito and her husband Daniel and Pamela L. Brady and her husband James, many nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be 4-7PM Monday, December 28, 2020, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel. A Graveside Service will be held in the spring of 2021 in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Saco. To view Margaret's memorial page or leave an online condolence, please visit www.cotefuneralhome.com

Please read this poem shared by the family from their passed mother "Poune" and now their beloved Maggie:

What Cancer Cannot Do

Cancer is so limited...
It cannot cripple love.
It cannot shatter hope.
It cannot corrode faith.
It cannot eat away peace.
It cannot destroy confidence.

It cannot kill friendship(s).
It cannot shut out memories.
It cannot silence courage.
It cannot invade the soul.
It cannot steal/reduce eternal life.
It cannot lesson the power of the resurrection.

It cannot conquer the spirit.
