Margaret, along with her twin sister, Helen, was born in Winslow, Maine on May 20, 1925,  to Theodore Bogatses and wife Kalianthe (Gules). Shortly thereafter, her family moved to Danbury, Connecticut because of her father's health. In 1933 the Bogatses family returned to Maine and lived on Summer Street in Biddeford, Maine. Like many families of that time, they purchased a home and shared it with Margaret's grandparents, Peter and Victoria Gules. In 1933 the family purchased a residence at 18 High Street in Saco.

Mrs. Scontras was educated in the Saco School system and graduated from Thornton Academy in 1943. Because of her proficiency in the business arts, she immediately acquired employment at the York National Bank, Saco. One store up from the bank her future husband, Nicholas, owned and operated the cobbler shop that he inherited when his father passed in 1937. Because of the close proximity of the bank and shoe repair shop, Nick and Margaret began dating and were married on February 10, 1946 at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church at 35 Adams Street in Biddeford. They settled into 62 Beach St. Saco which Mr. Scontras had previously purchased. His mother and siblings lived in an attached apartment while Nick and Margaret lived in the front portion of the residence. On March 17, 1947 their first of three sons, Peter was born. Son Ted followed in 1949. In 1951 their family moved to 49 Locke Street where the couple raised three sons in the Greek tradition with the arrival of their third, Charles N. Scontras in 1955.

Margaret was always very active while a parishioner at St Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church. Earlier, she sang in the choir and was a longtime member of the women's auxiliary group, St. Fotini. Mrs. Scontras served as its president for many years. She took pride in her ability to create outstanding Greek pastry especially her baklava and pitas. Margaret especially enjoyed attended Greek dances where she displayed her outstanding dancing proficiency to Greek music. Both Margaret and Nicholas were God-parents to several Greek individuals.

She was a member of the Saco Order of the Eastern Star, a den mother for Cub Scout Pack 341 in Saco, volunteered to go door to door for the March of Dimes and participated in many civic initiatives. She enjoyed entertaining family and close friends at her home while offering up her delectable Greek pastries.

Later in life Margaret was employed by Lady Grace and Macy's in the Maine Mall. Her advice during those experiences was highly valued by her clientele

Margaret B. Scontras was predeceased by her parents, Theodore and Kalianthe (Clara), her sister, Helen Kleftis, brother William plus wife Jacqueline, and her son Charles. She is survived by her sons Peter (Bridget), and Ted (Karen), and Charles' wife Diane and several grandchildren and great-grand children.

Visitation will be from 9-10AM with a funeral service at 10AM Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 186 Bradley Street, Saco. Burial will follow in St. Demetrios Cemetery in Biddeford.

The family thanks all the caretakers and administration at St. Andre's Healthcare who served Mrs. Scontras professionally and distinctively during her time there.
