Marguerite B. Higgins, 97 of Sanford, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at Summer Commons in Sanford.

She was born in Roslindale, Massachusetts on March 19, 1925, a daughter of William and Mable (Whittemore) Erlandson. She graduated from high school in Roslindale, Massachusetts.

Marguerite summered with her family at Gooserocks Beach in Kennebunkport for many years. She met her future husband Ralph one summer and the two married and their journey began.

They owned and operated Country Kitchen, a local restaurant in West Newfield, Maine for several years. Once the couple retired, they moved to Greenville, Maine and lived there for 20 years.

Marguerite loved being a home maker and raising her family. She cherished the family time spent together and most recently time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She enjoyed cooking and crocheting. She will be sadly missed by many.

She was predeceased by her husband Ralph Higgins in 1995, one brother Elmer Erlandson, one sister Eileen Coffin and grandson Scott Higgins.

She is survived by three children Shelley Morin and Greg, Daniel Higgins and wife Greer and William Higgins and wife Nancy. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and also was a great great grandmother. Her family also includes many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10-11AM with a Funeral Service at 11AM on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James Street, Saco.
