Mary L. (Grant) Roets, 89, of Saco, Maine, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021, at her home.

Mary was born in Huron, Ohio on September 13, 1932, a daughter of Henry and Dorothy (Zimmerman) Grant.  Her family moved from Ohio to Saco when she was still a baby.  Mary was educated in the Saco school system and graduated from Thornton Academy.  Nearly 60 years ago, Mary married her beloved husband, Sylvester Roets.  They lived in Saco where they raised their family.

Mary began her working career at the Pepperell Mills, and later was employed at Bosal Foam and the Waterbury Company.  The job she most enjoyed was giving compassionate care as a CNA at Evergreen Manor in Saco where she worked up until her retirement in 2010.

Her passions included scrapbooking, knitting and traveling.  She thoroughly enjoyed attending the yearly reunions for the crew of the USS Long Beach, of which her husband Sylvester was a former crewmate.  These reunions brought Mary and her husband to places like San Francisco, Hawaii, Branson Missouri, Texas, and Tennessee.

Mary kept a special place in her heart for her little dog, a Rat Terrier named Honey.  Most of all, Mary loved the time spent with family and friends.  She will be sadly missed by many.

Mary was predeceased by her husband Sylvester Roets on January 8, 2008.

Mary is survived by her son Scott Roets of Indianapolis, daughter Susan Sajecki of Saco, and her brother Richard Grant of Saco.  She is also survived by six grandchildren; Donald Sajecki and his wife Casondra, Michael Sajecki and his wife Jessica, Benjamin Sajecki, Kayla Beaulieu, Allison Roets, and Ryan Roets; as well as eight great-grandchildren.
