Maureen M. Clark
Saco
Maureen M. (Ingoldsby) Clark, 85, of Saco, Maine, passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2022, in Kennebunk.
Maureen "Rene" Clark, lived her life fully. Born in Boston, MA, to Joseph E. and Alberta (Stark) Ingoldsby, she graduated from Lesley College and taught in the Quincy and Duxbury, MA, school systems. During the summers she travelled across the country and abroad, enjoying different cultures and nature's beauty.
Maureen married Jay Young Clark in 1968 and they moved to Maine about a year later. They shortly settled in a former ferry boat-landing house on Ferry Lane in Saco Maine. Here they raised their children Colin, Hilary, and Jonathan. Rene doted on her children and offered them love and support throughout her life.
The family loved the water and would sail, boat, and canoe on the Saco River to destinations along the coast. Here they could see eagles and seals fishing the water and deer scampering along the shore. Maureen cared for wild ducks and geese when the river froze by donning snowshoes to walk down to the marsh and feed them. They knew her and would even come when called! She loved nature and shared this joy with her children, who continue the family tradition of travel, boating, and camping in wild places.
Once her children were grown, Maureen resumed working as an educator in the Saco and Wells, Maine school systems. Sadly, Jay died in 2003. She stayed active at the YMCA, in the schools, church, her community, and most of all, with her family. She had an open mind, a kind spirit, a love of life's adventures, and a fine sense of humor.
Maureen is survived by her son Colin Clark and his wife Krista, daughter Hilary Mitchell-Clark, and her son, Maureen's beloved grandson Roe B. Mitchell-Clark, and son Jonathan Clark. She is also survived by her sister Patricia Ahearn, sister Kathleen Ingoldsby and husband Wayne Erickson, and brother Joseph Ingoldsby III, along with several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Services are to be arranged for family and friends in the Summer of 2022. To view Maureen's memorial page, or leave an online condolence, please visit www.cotefuneralhome.com
