Maurice "Moe-Kid"
Lupien
Oct 7, 1942 — Mar 21, 2026
Maurice J. Lupien
Biddeford
Maurice "Moe-Kid" J. Lupien, 83, of Biddeford, passed away on Saturday morning, March 21, 2026, at St. Andre's Healthcare in Biddeford.
Moe was born on October 7, 1942, a son of Theodore and Mary (Berry) Lupien. He was born in Lewiston and relocated to Biddeford and was educated in the local Biddeford school system.
After graduating, Moe enlisted in the Army National Guard, and served his country for 17 years. He also worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for several years. He then moved to Texas for a short time, returning back to Maine to start up his own electrical company called Saco Electric. Later in life Moe returned to work for the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a High-Voltage Electrician, retiring in 2007.
Moe married the love of his life, Garnet (Bedard) Lupien, in 1993. The couple settled in Biddeford where they made many friends and became an integral part of the community. Moe was a member of the La Kermesse planning committee and was a past president of the Biddeford Eagles 804. Moe and Garnet attended many of the Eagles conventions together. Moe and Garnet loved music and enjoyed going to many dances together. Sadly, Garnet passed away four years later in 1997.
Some of the pastimes that Moe enjoyed included Bingo, Karaoke, four-wheeling, monthly lunch outings with former coworkers, deer and moose hunting. Every year Moe looked forward to his annual hunting trip with the guys, where he always enjoyed taking care of the meals as "Camp Cook".
Dear to Moe's heart was his cat "Hondo" who unfortunately passed away last year. Most of all he cherished every moment spent with his family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Moe was predeceased by his wife, Garnet Lupien; by his son, Roger Martel; by his brother, Donald Vachon; and by three grandchildren, Roger, Michael and Randy.
Moe is survived by four children, Richard Hubbard and partner Kristina, Carol Cassette and husband Mark, Brenda Sylvestre and husband Daniel, and Tina DeWolfe and husband Philip; twelve grandchildren; Shenade, Marissa, Cory, Daniel, Zachary, Mark II, Melissa, Tyler, Matthew, Aliyah, Lucas, and Beau; by several Great-grandchildren; by daughter-in-law Vita Martel; and by nephews, Timothy Vachon and Christopher Vachon and several cousins.
Moe's family would like to thank the staff from St. Andre's Healthcare for the kind and compassionate care they provided Moe during his time with them.
Visitation will take place from 11:00am to 1:00pm; with a funeral service following at 1:00pm on Monday, March 30, 2026 at Cote Funeral Home, 87 James Street, Saco. Burial will take place immediately after at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Saco. A lite luncheon will follow at Townline Family Restaurant in Lyman.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Moe's memory to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital, St. Andre's Healthcare or to a Cancer Organization of your choice.
