Mildred E. Blanchette
Biddeford
Mildred E. Blanchette, 60, of Biddeford, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025 at MaineHealth - Maine Medical Center in Biddeford.
She was born in Biddeford on June 15, 1965, a daughter of Phillip and Virginia (Shuffleburg) Blanchette. She received her early elementary education in the Old Orchard Beach School System. Later, when Mildred was ten, her family moved to Saco and she completed her education in that same town. Mildred graduated from Thornton Academy.
After graduation she moved to Biddeford. Mildred had a heart for serving others and soon began an extensive career as a CNA, finding great fulfillment in giving compassion as a caregiver. She spent many years working at The Renaissance Rehabilitation and Nursing Care on Pool Road in Biddeford, later transitioning to Seal Rock Healthcare in Saco.
Mildred was a devoted mother, who would do anything for her children. She attended all of her children's sporting events, and showed her support and dedication in everything they participated in.
Mildred enjoyed riding her moped scooter around town, an activity she referred to as "Scootin'." She loved spending time at the beach searching for sea glass, and collected several containers worth through the years. She had a passion for playing the lottery, regularly buying scratch tickets and Powerball tickets. One year, after turning in a stack of old tickets to the Maine Lottery, she was selected to appear as a contestant on the Monopoly Game Show in Las Vegas. Mildred was a longtime volunteer in the community, serving many years as a board member with the Biddeford Housing Authority.
Dear to her heart was her dog Jasper, as well as her two cats who passed recently.
Most of all, Mildred cherished the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Mildred is predeceased by her son Roger Blanchette, and by two siblings, Steven and Phyllis.
She is survived by her daughter, Eliza Cote; by her two step-daughters, Amanda Cabrera and Sara Cote; by nine grandchildren, Roger Blanchette, Anthony Cabrera, Henry Cabrera, Oliver Cabrera, Samuel Majeed, Ethan Perry, Ivy-Rose Willey, Gavin Avery and Rhylen Avery; and by her daughter-in-law Elizabeth Blanchette. Mildred is also survived by three siblings, Joe, Susan and Julie; as well as by several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will take place in the spring of 2026.
