Nadine N. Lagueux
Dayton
Nadine Norma Lagueux, 66, of Dayton, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023, at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
Nadine was born on February 9, 1956 in Biddeford to Edward and Sylvia ( Hoyte) Smart. She was educated in the Saco school system, and graduated from Thornton Academy, class of 1974. It was during high school that she met her beloved husband, David Lagueux. The couple married on November 24, 1973, and began their young married lives in Biddeford, where they raised their son Alan. The family then moved to Saco for a short time, eventually settling in Dayton where they remained for 40-plus years.
Nadine's working career began at St. Andre Nursing Home in Biddeford. She later transitioned to Hannaford Supermarket where she worked for 34 years, retiring in 2017.
Nadine had a generous heart and volunteered regularly in her community. She spent several years giving her time to the Goodwins Mills Rescue, she occasionally volunteered at the Biddeford Food Pantry, and after retirement she helped out at the St. Vincent de Paul thrift store.
She had many interesting hobbies, but the ones at the top of her list were bird watching, arts & crafts, and taking motorcycle road trips across country with her husband. Some of their destinations included Florida, Tennessee, Wisconsin, and even Newfoundland Canada. Nadine loved spending time at the family camp on Bunganut Pond where she enjoyed campfires, BBQ's, and sharing good times with friends.
Most of all, Nadine loved the time spent with her husband, her son, and her grandson. She will be dearly missed by many.
Nadine is predeceased by her parents, Edward and Sylvia Smart.
She is survived by her husband David Lagueux, her son Alan Lagueux, and her grandson Joshua Lagueux. She is also survived by her extended family: Nancy and Mark Sprague and their children, and Colleen and Bill Vandegrift and their children and grandchildren, as well as additional extended family.
Services are private.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Nadine's name to the St. Vincent de Paul thrift store, C/O Bob Bilodeau, 65 Fox Meadow Run, Lyman, ME 04002; or to the Maine Audubon Society https://maineaudubon.org/support/give/
