Obituary

Nancy S. Driscoll

Nancy S. Driscoll, 85, of Saco, passed away surrounded by her family at home on Friday evening, August 9, 2024.

She was born in Boston, Massachusetts on November 9, 1938, a daughter of William Wayne and Mary (Doucet) Sparrow. Nancy graduated from Holy Trinity high school in Roxbury as valedictorian of her class, earning a full scholarship to Regis College.  After her marriage in 1958, as a longtime resident of Concord Mass, Nancy raised her family and was employed as a mail marketing consultant, until her retirement in the early 80's, when she relocated to Saco, Maine and Jensen Beach Florida.

Nancy was an accomplished seamstress and loved creating items out of fabric including trapunto pillows, upholstered cushions, curtains, quilts, lady's purses, and of course clothing.  She would sew for family and friends and anyone in need and volunteered sewing lessons to others whenever she had the chance, including at the Esther Residence for women in Saco, and Mary's Shelter in Florida.  She proudly made and donated embroidered Baptismal garments for parishioners of St. Joseph's Church in Florida for years.

Mrs. Driscoll was a Eucharist Minister and parishioner of both Good Shepherd Parish in Saco, Maine and St. Joseph's Church in Stuart, Florida.

Nancy was a loving and giving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She lived by the motto "Faith, Family, Friends". She will be sadly missed, especially for her heartfelt warm hugs.

She was predeceased by her husband John G. Driscoll on September 9, 2019, son Robert W. Driscoll on December 12, 2017, and siblings Richard Sparrow, Rita McDonald and Mary Palhete.

She is survived by two children, Mary Ann Florek and husband Francis, Charles G. Driscoll and wife Sandra Otis, and one daughter-in-law, Ann Driscoll. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, David Driscoll and wife Brittany, Patrick Driscoll, A.J. Florek, Jack Florek, Chris Florek, Nick Florek, Raener Flowers and wife Kera, and Aaron Flowers and wife Katharine, and three great grandchildren Luke Driscoll, Luke Flowers and Jade. She also leaves behind siblings Dorothea Sparrow, Judith Sparrow and husband Ed Carroll, Terry Walker, and a sister-in-law Diane Sparrow, and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11AM Friday, August 16, 2024, at St. Margaret Church in Old Orchard Beach. A Graveside service will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New England Cancer Specialists in Scarborough, Hospice of Southern Maine, or Esther Residence in Saco.
