Norma Janet Scott

Norma Janet Scott, 89, of Saco, ME, the matriarch of a large family, passed on July 21, 2021 surrounded by family at Gosnell House. She was born on March 14, 1932 in Natick, MA, daughter to John Hewitt and Annie Grogan Hewitt. Norma graduated from Natick High School with the class of 1950. Norma retired in 1997 as a switchboard operator and secretary at Natick R&D Command. Thereafter, in 2000, Norma relocated from Natick to Saco to be nearer her children.

Norma loved helping people and socializing with others. She traveled all over the world and loved to collect new experiences and explore new foods. Norma ate at least three meals a day and would be considered a "foodie" in today's terms. She particularly loved sweet treats- coconut cake, donuts, hot fudge sundaes- and thoroughly enjoyed a  chocolate shake as her final dessert. Music was her favorite pastime; singing and dancing brought her a lot of joy. Often called a "firecracker" or a "hot ticket," Norma had a great sense of humor and would often surprise you with her jokes and laughter. She was a big fan of TV and films, regularly going to the movie theater. Norma was a big New England sports fan and enjoyed watching the games and celebrating the wins. Norma loved her grandchildren and would always look forward to holidays in hopes everyone would gather for a shared meal and exchange of memories.

Norma is survived by six children; Gary Slamin and wife Sue, Carolyn Paquette and husband Patrick, Diane Slamin Champagne and husband Robert, Charles "Chuck" Slamin Jr., Susan Brunt and husband Tim, and Lois Jenkenson and husband Don; twelve grandchildren, Graham Slamin and wife Cortney, Virgil Slamin and wife Hannah, Bess Slamin and partner Dalton, Missy Duncan and husband Russell, Becky Butler and husband Chris, Brittany Padgett and husband Carlos, Ian Paquette and wife Ryan, Jesika Wolfahrt and husband Jeff, Krystal Smead and husband Levi, Steven Brunt, Melanie Ross, and Katy Ross and partner Kristin; and eighteen great-grandchildren, Lennox, Harmony, Nora, Liam, Derrick, Breanna, Caden, Jastin, Ana Julia, Patrick, Matthew, Kathryn, Kolby, Keaton, Grace, Bryson, Cadence, and Cole, with one more due in December.

A celebration of life ceremony will be arranged for a future date.
