Norman A. Pettey

Norman A. Pettey, age 78, of Saco, previously from Old Orchard beach and most recently from Lyman, peacefully passed away on July 23, 2022 after a long battle with cancer.  He was born in Portland, son of Laurence and Lucinda (Junkins) Pettey, and attended local schools.  He retired from Parker Nichols machine shop of Portland where he was employed for over twenty years.  He later was employed as a custodian at Thornton Academy.

Norman enjoyed his trips to Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Foxwoods, and especially enjoyed spending his summers at Apache Campground in Sanford for over 35 years.  He loved his family and had great satisfaction in putting their needs ahead of his own.

He is survived by his wife, Pearl, of over 57 years; two sons: Michael and his wife Deborah of Standish, Mark and his wife Crystal of East Waterboro; five grandchildren: Alexandra Wright, Aaron Pettey and his wife Samantha, Sydney Pettey, Brittany Pettey, and Aubrey Pettey; two great-granddaughters: Rosslyn Wright and Brealynn Pettey; his brother Lawrence and his wife Bonnie of Virginia.

He was predeceased by two sisters; Sandra Pettey Desper and Shirley Donahue.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
