Normand Lucien Roy, 83, of Biddeford, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford.
Normand was born in Biddeford on August 19, 1939, son of Archay and Celanire (Guilbeault) Roy. He was educated at St. Andre's School as a boy, and graduated from St. Louis High School, class of 1956.
After high school, Normand enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and served from 1956 to 1960.
Normand married the love of his life, June Douville, July 1, 1961 at Notre Dame de Lourdes Church. They began their young lives together in Saco.
After his service with the Coast Guard, Normand worked briefly for the Saco Tannery. He then joined the Biddeford Fire Department and the couple relocated to Biddeford where they raised their wonderful son Lawrence. Normand faithfully served as a firefighter for 40 years, retiring in 2004.
Normand was a member of the AMVETS and the Eagles. Some of his favorite pastimes were watching Football, Hockey and NASCAR. He liked watching the M*A*S*H television series and catching the re-runs whenever possible. He also enjoyed traveling and sightseeing with June.
Most of all, Normand enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by many.
He is predeceased by his brother J. Donald Roy.
Normand is survived by his wife June Roy of 61 years, his son Lawrence "Larry" Roy and wife Nancy of Lyman, and three cousins: Janet Champagne of Biddeford, Jackie Fontaine of Biddeford, and Carlene Winn of York.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 1st, 2023, from 11:00am - 1:00pm, with a funeral service beginning at 1:00pm at Cote Funeral Home, 87 James Street, Saco, Maine. A funeral procession led by the Biddeford Fire Department will bring Normand's remains by the Biddeford Fire Station for the last alarm. Burial will immediately follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco.
