Obituary

Patrick D.D. Murphy

Scarborough

Patrick D.D. Murphy, age 68, of Scarborough, Maine, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

Born on August 5, 1957, in Burlington, Vermont, Patrick was the son of Hilas and Mona (Meunier) Murphy. A proud graduate of South Burlington High School's Class of 1975, he excelled as an athlete, earning letters in basketball. He later attended the University of Vermont.

Patrick met his wife, Julie Morgan, in Colchester, Vermont, and they married on June 9, 1979. After briefly living in Burlington, the couple moved to Scarborough in October 1979, where they raised their family.

For 29 years, Patrick worked as the Spirits Director for Martignetti Companies of New England, retiring in late 2024.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, Patrick was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, the Philadelphia 76ers, and, above all, the Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed playing sports throughout his life, making lasting friendships on men's basketball leagues with Pats Pizza and on the golf course at Dunegrass. The relationships he built through these activities were some of his most cherished.

Above all, Patrick's greatest love was for his family. He deeply enjoyed spending time with his wife, Julie, and was a constant presence at his children's and grandchildren's sporting events and school activities. Though he preferred to be supportive from the sidelines rather than in the spotlight, his love for his family was always evident. He will be missed dearly.

Patrick was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Michael Murphy, and his son-in-law, Stephen LaCroix.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Julie Murphy; his three children, Peter and his wife Caitlin, Marin and Christin; and his nine grandchildren, Michaela, Meyrick, Pryce, Maverick (Stephen), Avery, Lyla, Gavyn, Dylan, and Alyssa. He is also survived by his sister, Colleen Murphy, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Visitation will be from 11:00AM-1:00PM with a Funeral Service at 1:00PM on Sunday, September 28, 2025 at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James Street, Saco. The family encourages everyone to wear Dallas Cowboys apparel or Hawaiian shirts to honor Patrick's memory.  Everyone is invited to Dunegrass Golf Club following the service to celebrate Patrick's life with his loved ones.
