Paul H. McCallum Jr.

Saco

Paul H. McCallum Jr., 91, of Saco, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 in Scarborough.

He was born in Biddeford on September 30, 1932, a son of Paul and Irene (Harding) McCallum. He attended Saco Schools.

In 1950, Paul enlisted into the United States Army to serve his country during the Korean Conflict.

Paul graduated from the apprenticeship program at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a Journeyman and Ship Fitter in1962. He remained employed at the shipyard for 27 years, retiring at the age of 55

Not one to sit still, Paul became head of maintenance at the Bayview Convent in Saco overseeing property upgrades and improvement projects.

He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping with a passion for golf.  Many annual trips to Myrtle Beach with golf buddies were planned.  He was a long time member of the Saco & Biddeford Country Club and served on the Greens Committee.

Paul loved being Grampa and cherished the time he spent with his three grandsons.

He was predeceased by his wife Elaine (Blackington) McCallum on September 30, 2023.

He is survived by two children,  his son Gary McCallum and wife Paula and his daughter Laurie Valley and husband Garrison. He is also survived by three grandsons Caleb, Ethan and Isaac Valley and two great grandsons Lucas and Logan Valley.
