Pauline M.
Curry
Sep 29, 1948 — Nov 14, 2024
Pauline M. Curry
Pauline Marie Curry, 76, of Old Orchard Beach, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.
Pauline was born in Waterville on September 29, 1948, the fourth of eight children to Alyre and Frances (Veilleux) Dugal. Pauline graduated from Winslow High School in 1966, and from the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing where she received her certificate in RN. Pauline met her husband, Richard Curry, while she was a nursing student, and Richard always said he knew at first sight that they were meant to be together. He forever affectionately called Pauline "Sweet Pea". The couple married on July 22, 1968. They initially settled in Old Orchard Beach, where Pauline worked as a nurse. It wasn't long before she decided to return to school, and while raising her young family, she received a degree in Fashion Merchandising from Westbrook College. This new endeavor landed Pauline a store management position with Kmart stores where she ran different departments in Kmart stores throughout Maine. Pauline and her family lived in many parts of the state, and over 20 years in Portland.
Later in life, Pauline became a teacher with Grace Baptist Church and then returned to nursing, giving compassionate care at Visiting Nurses of Southern Maine and Hospice of Southern Maine. In her retirement years, they relocated back to Old Orchard Beach.
Pauline was a devout member of Grace Baptist Church in Portland for 43 years.
Pauline had many hobbies, but some of the more notable ones were knitting, quilting, and exhibiting her skills as a seamstress, a talent she always sought to perfect with continuous learning. She enjoyed gardening and cooking and was known for her skillful ability to juggle many projects simultaneously. Few things in life delighted Pauline as much as spoiling her grandchildren, especially during Christmas time. She will be sadly missed by those she leaves behind.
She was predeceased by four brothers, Robert Dugal, Daniel Dugal, Gerald Dugal, and Bernard Dugal.
Pauline is survived by her husband Richard Curry of 56 years; by her two daughters, Kimberly Curry and her partner Brandon Treadwell, and Karen Capron and husband Mat Capron; and by her grandchildren: Suzanna, Sheldon, and Spencer with wife Vanessa and their daughter Sophie. Pauline is also survived by three siblings: Christine Wendler and husband Chuck, Jeannine Robinson, and husband John, and Conrad Dugal and wife Lynn, as well as by several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Grace Baptist Church, in Portland. Burial will take place the following day at 11:00am on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Saco.
