Pauline Laura Guay Dalton, loved by all who knew her, passed away at her home in Arundel, Maine on May 7, 2025 at the age of 90.

She was born August 17, 1934 to loving parents, George and Alfreda Guay of Saco, Maine. She attended local schools, graduating from Thornton Academy, class of 1952. She married and had 2 children. She spent many weekends and vacations at the family camp at Ossipee Lake which she helped build with her Mom and Dad.

Beginning her working life at Biddeford Coal she also worked at Lyn Flex in Saco. After moving to New Hampshire in 1968, she worked as a billing clerk for the city of Keene. She also worked at Sunrise Donut Shop where she met her partner of 54 years, Emile Gallien. The two enjoyed camping, canoeing, fishing and gardening. Upon retiring, she moved back to Maine to finish her life in Arundel.

Pauline loved reading, cheering for the Patriots and feeding the birds. She consistently did aerobics classes until she was 85 years old, only stopping due to Covid.

The biggest joy of Pauline's life was her family. She is survived by her daughter, Ann Dalton Rupp and her husband, Bill, of San Jose, California, her son, Michael Dalton and his wife, Robin, of Arundel, Maine as well as her brother, Normand Guay and his wife, Ann, of Waterboro, Maine and many nieces and nephews.

She was much loved as 'Memere' by her grandchildren, Amanda and Katie Saari of San Jose, California, Jefferson Dalton, of Waterboro, Maine and Karalyn Drisko of Arundel, Maine.  Great grandchildren Addison, Keegan, Cassie and Julian (Juju) brought smiles to her face every visit.  She was welcomed into heaven by her grandson, Samuel (Sammy) Dalton and great-granddaughter, Amaya Saari.

Always a woman of faith, most recently Pauline found a strong church family at Scarborough Free Baptist Church where her son, Michael, the Pastor, baptized her and her granddaughter, Amanda. Pauline was so happy to be dedicating her life to Jesus.

Memorial Services will be held Thursday, May 15th at Cote Funeral Home, 87 James St, Saco, ME 04072. The viewing will begin at 3:00pm with a service directly following at 5:00pm.

A second Celebration of Life will be held at Scarborough Free Baptist Church, 55 Mussey Rd, Scarborough, ME 04074 Friday, May 16th at 6pm.

A Graveside Service will take place on May 17th, at 1pm, at St. Joseph Cemetery, Biddeford.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to these special children's charities in the name of Pauline Dalton.

This foundation was founded in 1996 and is the leading organization in the US solely dedicated to funding congenital heart defect research. They have funded nearly $18 million in CHD research and scientific collaborations.

National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS): Provides a range of resources and services for individuals with Down syndrome and their families, including support for research. NDSS works with local organizations across the country to provide support services, including research opportunities.

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI): NAMI is the nation's largest mental health organization, focusing on advocacy, education, and support for individuals and families affected by mental illness. They offer various programs for children, including support groups and resources for parents and educators, according to NAMI.
