Obituary

Rachel L. Paquette

Saco

Rachel L. Paquette, 94, of Saco, passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023, at Seal Rock Healthcare in Saco.

She was born in Biddeford on June 16, 1929, a daughter of William and Beatrice (Simaneau) Vir. She graduated from Thornton Academy, class of 1948.

Rachel was from the generation of hard work. She was employed in various positions for Bates Manufacturing, Pepperell Manufacturing, Saco Lowell Shops and for Saco Tanning. She also was a home maker who enjoyed raising her family throughout the years.

Rachel cherished her family and the time they spent together. Most recently she took care of her grandchildren, her favorite job, as she would say.

Rachel loved to travel just about anywhere and enjoyed several family vacations with grandkids in tow. She was an avid crafter who would try her hand at just about anything. She painstakingly took the time to plot out specific patterns for special sweaters and afghans that she made for all her grandchildren. And she could always be counted on for a rousing family game of contract rummy! She will be sadly missed.

Mrs. Paquette was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church and a member of The Daughters of Isabella.

She was predeceased by her husband Armand E. Paquette on October 26, 2016 and by three siblings Arlene LeBlanc, Philip Vir and Donald Vir.

She is survived by two children, Bonnie L. Ryan and husband John and Marc S. Paquette and wife Kim and five grandchildren, Tony Ryan and fiancée Kim Blake, Sara Paquette, Danny Ryan, Shawn Paquette and Taylor Paquette and three great grandchildren, Evie May, Kaylee and Jeremiah. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
