Ralph S.J. Madore
Saco
Ralph Madore, 95 of Saco, passed away doing what he loved to do, help his family with their home improvement projects, on Friday, December 29, 2023.
He was born in Burlington, Vermont on February 25, 1928, the son of Emile and Lena (Corbeil) Madore. After several years in Vermont the family moved back to Biddeford where Ralph attended schools.
After school, Ralph took a job welding on merchant ships before entering the Merchant Marines where he traveled all over the world on various ships as a cook in the officers mess. He went into the Army stationed at Fort Dix New Jersey as a cook and also drove his own taxi as a part time job.
After the service, Ralph married his wife Doris on April 16, 1955. Ralph owned and operated Ralph's Place, a takeout stand in Old Orchard Beach serving the community hamburgers, hotdogs and seafood. Changing careers once again, Ralph was a carpenter for many years in the New England Carpenter's Union working in different states. After retirement, he continued his craft by building homes, for his children and also throughout Biddeford and Saco. There was nothing he could not fix and no project ever feared him. His work is still being admired by many today.
Ralph enjoyed reading the newspaper and cooking. He loved riding his electric scooter around his neighborhood and chatting with all his neighbors along the way. But Ralph's main focus was his family and being there for them with whatever their needs were. He will be sadly missed.
He was predeceased by his wife Doris (Baron) Madore on June 26, 2021 and by his son Wayne Madore on November 28, 2021 also by his brothers Roger, Leo, Bucky, Clovis and his sister Liz.
He is survived by his daughter Colleen Pleau, son James Madore and wife Mary and daughter in law Charlene Madore, seven grandchildren Jonathan Madore his wife Jess, Christine Crawford and her husband Josh, Ryan Pleau, Justine Madore, Cameron Madore, Caitlin Morse and her husband James and Brandon Madore and by three great grandchildren Julian, Dash and Crew Morse. He is also survived by one sister Simone Lemelin and husband Henry and nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service with military honors will be at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Southern Maine Veteran's Cemetery in Springvale.
