Rebecca Anne Vincelette died on May 12, 2026. She was 48.

She was born in Monza, Italy, on July 4, 1977, to her parents Dave and Nicole Jones. She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law Annette Vincelette, and is survived by her husband, Guy; her daughter, Teigan; and son, Quinn. She was a loving aunt to her 18 nieces and nephews and the best big sister anyone could ask for.

Rebecca spent her childhood in Europe, first in Italy and then in Germany, where she met Guy. They were high school sweethearts, married for 28 years, together for 34. As newlyweds, they lived in Chicago and then moved to Saco, Maine, their home for the last 20 years. Together, they built a good life. And the very best part – their children, Teigan and Quinn. She loved being their mom.

Trained as an elementary school teacher, Rebecca was magical and caring with her students. She also completed a master's degree in counseling and used her gifting as caretaker and counselor throughout the rest of her life. She ran support groups for women with cancer and spent many hours working a hotline for domestic violence survivors. As a friend and counselor, she listened without blinking.

Rebecca had a knack for languages and could speak four. She was funny and kind and had a way of owning a room with a perfectly-timed joke, often in perfect Italian or broken German. She laughed easily.

Her home was warm and welcoming, as was every other space she helped create. She took a big, open room in an old textile mill and transformed it into a soulful space for her church. Discarded wooden pallets became art, secondhand furniture created cozy nooks, and carefully chosen lamps threw off just the right amount of light.

Her gift for hospitality went beyond the physical - she had a way of inviting people in and listening to their stories that made them feel safe and at home. She was always present: whether talking on the phone or over hot drink by the fire or spending a summer day at the family boat house.

Rebecca lived with cancer for 15 years but never let it define her. She showed up for treatment after treatment just as she did the rest of life. On Halloween, she dressed up as unicorn and delivered treats to staff at the cancer center. For Christmas, she wore an elf hat. Through an experience that would have caused many to contract inward, Rebecca expanded her love outward. When she stopped treatment, she scheduled one last appointment with her nurses and doctor to say thank you and goodbye. To the very end, Rebecca loved others well.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 13, at 1 pm. It will be at Pathway Vineyard Church, 40 Main Street, Biddeford, Maine.
