Richard R.
Boissonneault
Oct 27, 1947 — May 4, 2025
Richard R. Boissonneault
Dayton
Richard R. Boissonneault, 77, of Dayton, passed away after a courageous battle with ALS and cancer on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at his home.
He was born in Biddeford, Maine on October 27, 1947, a son of Arthur and Laurette (Savard) Boissonneault. Richard grew up in Biddeford and was educated at Biddeford High School. As a young boy he enjoyed fishing, and would regularly pay his neighbors a visit to drop off fish for them to eat.
After high school Richard enlisted in the United States Army and faithfully served our country until he was honorably discharged in 1970. Richard went to work for the Saco Tannery, and remained there until it's closing in 1981. He then worked for Taylor Rental Center for several years, and later for the Saco School Department as a bus driver until his retirement in 2009.
Richard met the love of his life, Jeanne Bonsaint, at the local roller-skating rink. The couple married on October 20, 1984. They initially settled in Biddeford, but within a year they bought a home in Dayton where they raised their five children: Robert, Chad, Nicole, Cory and Alysse.
Richard had many passions and interests, but nothing compared to the joy he found in collecting Coca Cola memorabilia. Over the years he collected Coca Cola signs, drinking glasses, Beanie Babies, and even had a full-size Coca Cola vending machine that dispensed glass bottles of Coca Cola. Camping was another of Richard's favorite pastimes. Many memories were created over the years during their annual August trips to Sebago Lake State Park. He also received so much satisfaction in working outside his home, especially when it came to the beautiful landscapes that he created.
Most of all he loved his family and the time they spent together, especially the time he shared with his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by many.
Richard was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Laurette Boissonneault; by his brothers, Ralph, Conrad, Normand, and Donald Boissonneault; and by his sisters, Janet Paradis, Rita Chadbourne, and Joan Daly.
He is survived by his loving wife Jeanne Boissonneault of 40 years; by his five children, Robert Boissonneault and wife Carrie, Chad Boissonneault, Nicole Downes and husband Ryan, Cory Boissonneault and wife Miranda, and Alysse Michaud; by ten grandchildren, Tori, Ayden, Lilly, Adam, Nathanael, Alivia, Ariana, Makenzie, Chase, and Rory; by two sisters, Carol Joncas and husband Robert, and Elaine Seader; as well as by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00AM on Monday, May 12, 2025, at St. Joseph Church in Biddeford. A private burial will take place in Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery, Springvale.
For those planning an expression of sympathy in memory of Richard, the family asks you to consider donations to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, or to Hospice of Southern Maine.
