Richard D. Maloney

Richard Dostie Maloney, 98, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 24, 2025.

Richard was born in Portland, Maine, to Fanning and Blanche (Dostie) Maloney.

He grew up and attended schools in Portland, including Portland High School. He went to work at his father's business, State Printing Co. upon finishing school. He learned all facets of the printing trade at that time, and specialized in letter-press operations.

The small family-run print shop lost its competitive battle with larger print shops and went out-of-business(1965). Richard then was employed by Maine Printing Co. until his retirement in 1992.

In retirement he moved to Alfred where he enjoyed country living, classical music, and driving around slow country roads up to the ripe-old-age of 95!!

He had several accidental falls in his final few years, which ultimately put him in the hospital for the first time, and unfortunately for the last time (May 2025). He passed under hospice care at The Gosnell House (May 24, 2025) and will be buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Portland, ME.

Richard was predeceased by his mother: Blanche (Dostie) Maloney, his father: Fanning Goff Maloney, his brother: Francis Goff, and his sister: Muriel Walsh.

Richard is survived by several nephews and nieces.
