Richard G. Parent

Saco

Richard G. Parent, 84, of Saco, passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2021, at home.

He was born in Lille, Maine on May 2, 1937, a son of Noel and Blanche (Corbin) Parent.

He graduated Van Buren Boys' High School, class of 1955. He attended St. Francis Xavier University and McGill University, receiving a Bachelor's of Science in chemical engineering. After college, he served in the United States Army from 1960-1962 as a chemical lab specialist stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington.

Richard was employed in the water treatment industry for over thirty years. During his career he was fortunate to travel the world as a field service engineer. He also received a patent and later entered into research and development.

Richard had many interesting hobbies. He was handy around the house completing repairs and renovations with skill he learned from his father. Halloween was a special time of year, he looked forward to seeing the children and giving out the largest chocolate bars in the neighborhood.

Richard was also involved with his community, volunteering and making meals for the local food pantries. When he had time, he would try his luck at the horse track.

Most of all, he loved his family and friends and the time he spent with them. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity and sense of humor. He will be sadly missed.

He is predeceased by his sisters Priscille Davis, Sr. Emelda Parent, Arlene Learnard, and Normande Rossingnol.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Priscilla and three children Vicki, Kevin, and Mary Parent. He is also survived by his brothers Paul and Roger Parent and sisters Noella Sirois, Dorothy Parent, and Lorraine Verboys, nieces and nephews.
