Robert L. Cyr

Robert L. Cyr, 95, of Biddeford, passed away early Friday morning on October 15, 2021, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

He was born in Biddeford on November 19, 1925, a son of Joseph and Albertine (Bernier) Cyr.

Rob graduated from St. Louis High School, class of 1944. He enlisted to serve his country in the United States Army. He was an Army gunner trained in weaponry and responsible for ensuring secure information was communicated to different battle fronts. He received a Purple Heart for his military service while defending his country.

After the service, he studied engineering at the University of Maine and was a member of the UMO Tennis Team. After college, he was employed by HNTB and worked on the engineering part of the main turnpike. He later went on to a 34 year career with the United States Postal Service, retiring in 1988.

Rob had many interesting hobbies. He was an avid tennis player throughout his entire life. He enjoyed going to camp at Little Ossipee Lake with his family and friends for many years. He also was an avid reader, reading more than 3 books a week. He also enjoyed the benefits of travel during his retirement.

Rob was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church, Good Shepherd Parish.

He was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Priscilla (Grondin) Cyr on November 28, 2017 and by one brother (George) Leo Cyr and one sister Gertrude L'Heureux Labbe.

He is survived by two children, daughter Sandra Labelle and her husband Robert, son John Cyr and his partner Traci Stanley, three grandchildren, Kristi Roy and husband Aaron, Adam Cyr and wife Danielle and Jason Cyr and fiancée Ashley. He is also survived by three great grandchildren Paytyn Roy, Graysyn Roy and Hayden Cyr and two step great grandchildren Madison and Colton, and many nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at 1PM Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Biddeford.
