Robert “Bob” J. Harding Jr., 57, of Old Orchard Beach, a proud veteran of the United States Army, passed away on October 4, 2026, at MaineHealth Maine Medical Center-Portland.
Bob was born in New York City on October 25, 1968, the only child of Robert Sr. and Margaret (Reda) Harding. He grew up in Yonkers and the Bronx and was educated in both communities.
Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii, where he served as a Field Medic with the 27th Infantry Regiment, also known as the “Wolfhounds.”
Bob met the love of his life, Cynthia Passini, when they were both 16 years old, and they went on to share several decades of marriage together. The couple lived for many years in New York State before relocating to Old Orchard Beach, Maine, in 2002. There, Bob devoted himself to his family and lovingly helped raise his kids. He later returned to school and earned a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts from the University of Southern Maine.
Bob had many passions, but his patriotism and love of country were always paramount. Close behind was his unwavering loyalty to the New York Yankees. He loved taking road trips with Cynthia and was known throughout his family as an amazing cook, especially when he was behind the grill.
Bob was also a lifelong music enthusiast. Some of his favorite bands included KISS, Metallica, Mötley Crüe, and Iron Maiden, though his appreciation for music extended from pop to classical. He had a special place in his heart for the many dogs and cats he raised and cared for throughout his life and held a deep appreciation for animals of all kinds.
Above all else, Bob loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and he will be deeply missed by the many people whose lives he touched.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Margaret Harding.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia Harding; his five sons, Marco and his wife, Heather, Sam, Robert, Ryan, and Jack; and his two grandsons, Bailey and Leo.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2026, at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco.
