Robert D.
Morowski Sr.

Robert D. Morowski Sr.
Saco
Robert Dwight Morowski Sr., 86, of Saco, quietly passed away at home on Friday evening, February 10, 2023.
Robert was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on July 5, 1936, son of Clarence and Gladys (Anderson) Morowski. He was educated in the Worcester school system. As a young man he went to work for JJ Nissen Bread as a truck driver. In 1964 he met the love of his life, June Anderson, and the couple married on July 17, 1965. They began their young lives together in Leicester, Massachusetts where they raised their three wonderful children, Thomas, Robert Jr., and Pamela.
Part of Robert's nature was deep determination, ambition, and a willingness to always work hard. He started his own business, called Morowski Bus Company, which he and June ran for 12 years. In 1973 the family relocated to Maine. He then became a self employed commercial fisherman, fishing the waters of Southern Maine for 28 years until his retirement in 2001. Some of his well-known boats that he moored at Camp Ellis went by the names of "Maizae A", "June C", and "Molly Emma".
Robert had a number of interesting hobbies and interests. In his younger years, back in Massachusetts, he belonged to the Leicester Rod & Gun Club. Here in Maine, on days when the seas were too rough to fish, he enjoyed getting together with a few of his friends for some lively games of cribbage. Perhaps, at the top of his list, was the love that he and June shared for harness racing. Together they raced Standard Breds throughout New England, and were owners of several horses with names such as "Moonlight Express A", "Keystone Punchy", and "Telly's Tigress". He belonged to The Maine Harness Horsemen's Association, and The Maine Standard Bred Breeder's Association.
Most of all, Robert loved the time he spent with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife June Morowski of 57 years; his three children, Thomas Casamassa and wife Theresa of Saco, Robert Morowski Jr. and wife Melissa of Standish, and Pamela Parks and husband John of Saco; six grandchildren: Thomas, Tyler, Molly, Emily, Ella, Abby; and six great-grandchildren: Luca , Brady, Carter, Logan, Marco, Kaleb. He is also survived by his sister Sueann Morowski of Leicester, MA, as well as several nieces and nephews.
