Robert D. Murphy, 91, of Biddeford, passed away July 31 peacefully with his daughter by his side.

Born to Edward and Catherine Murphy on July 4, 1933, he was educated in Biddeford schools and was a graduate of Biddeford High School.

Robert enlisted in the US Navy at the age of 17 and spent 20 years of life serving our country, one tour in Korea and two tours of Viet Nam. He retired at the age of 37 and went on to become a welder at Gabriel Electronics retiring in 1998.

On April 29,1966 Bob married Doris Dube L'Heureux and gained a daughter, Diane with whom he lived the last 6 years.

Robert was a soft-spoken kind soul and he loved telling stories of his Navy days. In retirement, you found Bob either watching old tv shows or reading a book.

He is predeceased by his wife, parents and siblings, Ted, John, Paul, Richard and sister Catherine. He is survived by daughter Diane Stickles-Charette of Biddeford, 3 grandchildren, Randy Stickles and wife Julia from San Diego, California, Jennie and husband Beau Langevin and Brittany Charette, 3 great-grandchildren, Riley Ava, Kaden Beau and Logan Beau Langevin, all of Biddeford, several nieces and nephews.

Per Robert's request, a private service will be held.

We would like to thank the staff of Compassus Hospice in Scarborough for their amazing love and support throughout this dementia journey and to the staff at The Landing in Saco for their support the last 4 months.
