Roger Plourde
Roger Plourde of Caribou and Saco died on October 8th at a Falmouth healthcare facility at the age of 65.
He was born in Caribou on March 7, 1959 to the late Alberic and Lillian (St. Germain) Plourde. He is survived by five siblings: Sr. Linda Mae Plourde of Manchester NH, Rev. James Plourde of St. Agatha, Faye Anderson of Hampden, Allen Plourde and his wife Diane of St. Agatha, and Lisa Cyr and her husband Jay of Old Orchard Beach.
Roger graduated from Caribou High School in 1977 and went on to get his degree in Culinary Arts from Southern Maine Community College. Roger made his career in the food service profession. He was a chef for a lumber camp in the woods of Maine, for a research center in Antarctica (where his love of penguins began), for rectories, convents, and other institutions. For the last 20 years in his profession, he worked at the Iris Project Network in Portland. But what pleased him the most was cooking for his family offering some of his most delightful meals and bakery products.
Roger was a kind and gentle soul. Always generous and never missing an opportunity to give to others. He suffered from various illnesses throughout his life but it did not hinder his "joie de vie". Family meant everything to him. His greatest joy was when the family gathered for a meal or for some special occasions. What he always brought to these occasions was his sense of humor. He was truly the family clown with an infectious laugh. He loved his 70's and 80's music often singing along. He will be missed by family and friends.
Visiting hours will be on Friday, October 18, 2024 from 10-11AM at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James Street, Saco.
