Roland A. Ruel

Roland A. Ruel, 93, of Biddeford, passed away Saturday evening, on May 29, 2021, at Southern Maine Healthcare in Biddeford.

He was born in Biddeford on May 20, 1928, a son of Joseph and Claudia (Lavoie) Ruel.

He was educated from Biddeford High School. He married his wife Rita Richer on October 6, 1951.

Earlier, Roland was employed at Saco Lowell Shops. Later, he worked for the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 32 years, retiring in 1992. While working at the shipyard, Roland received several service recognitions awards that he was extremely proud of.

During retirement, his favorite pastime was having coffee with his friends at Reilly's Bakery in Biddeford throughout the years. He will be sadly missed.

Mr. Ruel was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church in Saco.

He was predeceased by five siblings, Lillian Nadeau, Florence Cote, Leo Ruel, Raymond Ruel and Reynald Ruel.

He is survived by his loving wife Rita Ruel, his daughter Denise Taaffe and her husband Maurice and siblings Claire Roy and Mignonne Roy, nieces and nephews.

A Visiting Hour will be from 12:00PM-1:00PM with a Funeral Service at 1PM Monday, June 7, 2021 at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James Street, Saco.
