It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald P. Palmitessa, a devoted Husband, Brother-In-Law, Uncle and Friend. He passed away at the age of 77 on Friday, October 10, 2025 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, Maine with his family and friends by his side.
Ron was the beloved husband of Elaine Roy. Together they built a beautiful life with great memories. Their love was a true partnership built on trust, mutual respect and an unwavering commitment to one another.
Ron was born in Biddeford on November 8, 1947, the son of Paul & Madeleine (Grenier) Palmitessa. He attended Biddeford High School and graduated in 1966. After graduation he attended Career Academy in Atlanta, Georgia and graduated with a degree in Broadcasting and Communications. He then joined the United States Army and faithfully served his country until his honorable discharge.
On January 24, 1993 Ron & Elaine got married and shared 33 beautiful years together. Ron made friends wherever he went. He had a great personality and he loved to make people laugh. His warm spirit and caring nature touched the hearts of everyone he met. He also had a special place in his heart for animals. He had many of them during his lifetime.
Ron was a hard worker with devotion to both his job and family. His strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit were evident in everything he did.
Throughout Ron's career he wore many hats. He was a medical courier during the day and also at night. He spent many nights on the road delivering meds to medical facilities. He was employed as an independent contractor for IDS (Independent Delivery Service) in Westbrook, retiring in 2018. He also worked as a property manager for HUD, worked in Real Estate Sales and owned and operated rental properties. He pursued many endeavors.
Ron enjoyed boating, listening to music, dancing and having barbecues at their beach house with family and friends.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Elaine, of 33 years; by his sisters-in-laws, Pauline Fitzgerald of Biddeford and her partner Michael Quinn of Florida, and Diane Rheaume and husband Paul of Winthrop; by his niece Melissa Blier and wife Angela of South Portland; by his nephew Anthony Rheaume of Winthrop; by his grand nieces, Josselyn Blier and Lucy Rheaume; by his grand nephews, Ethan and Cameron Blier; along with one aunt, several cousins and many friends.
Ron is predeceased by his parents Paul and Madeleine (Grenier) Palmitessa. He belonged to the Elks Lodge No. 1597 in Saco and the American Legion Post 26 in Biddeford.
Ron will be deeply missed, but fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of love and service will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
His family would like to thank the staff at Hospice of Southern Maine, Maine Health - Maine Medical Center & Maine Health Cardiology for their exceptional medical care, compassion and support. Many thanks also to all the friends who helped Ron over the years.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Ron's memory to Hospice of Southern Maine, or the Animal Welfare Society in Kennebunk.
A visitation for Ron will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 11AM to 1PM, with a Funeral Service following at 1PM at Cote Funeral Home, 87 James Street, Saco. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco where Ron will be laid to rest.
