Ronald Nelson Ruoss

June 1, 1936 – January 23, 2025

Ronald (Uncle) Ruoss, 88, a beloved brother, uncle, U.S. Army veteran, devoted dog lover and Colts fan, passed away peacefully after a brief illness.

Born on June 1, 1936, Ron was a proud graduate of Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA. After graduation, he answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Army. Following his Army service, he embarked on a successful business career which eventually brought him home to Trenton, ME. Never one to sit still for a moment, following his retirement as a sales executive he embarked on a greater than 30-year post retirement career as an auditor at the Bluenose Inn, Bar Harbor, ME.

A lifelong fan of the Indianapolis Colts, Ron cheered his team on through three NFL Championships and two Super Bowls. Ron rarely missed a game and loved sharing his passion for his Colts with family and friends. He will be remembered as a kind and generous man who adored his family, cherished the company of his beloved dogs, and found immense joy in both his favorite team and the simple pleasures of life. Known for his ceaseless generosity, Ron was always ready to lend a helping hand, offer kind words, or give without expecting anything in return. His warmth and compassion left an enduring impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Ron was predeceased by his parents Alice Kerwin Ruoss and Charles Ruoss as well as his former wife Sonya Sargent Ruoss and beloved K9 companions Beau, Layla, Jefferson and Gemma. He is survived by his brother, Michael G. Ruoss, nieces Judi Neveux, Kelly Rooney and Kimberly Lucier, nephews Michael B. Ruoss and William Smalley and step children Jason, Mark, Matthew and Annette Sargent. He is also survived by his dear friend and sister-in-law Maureen Ruoss, lifelong friend Winthrop Smith, cousin Alice Hinchcliffe and several grand nieces, nephews and dear friends.

In honoring his memory, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite animal shelter or dog rescue organization in lieu of flowers, reflecting his lifelong love for animals.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date and Ron will be interred with military honors at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco. Arrangements are by Cote Funeral Home, Saco.
