Obituary

Shari L. Rioux

Saco

Shari L. Rioux, 63, of Saco, passed away after an 11-year battle with Alzheimer's disease on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at The Landing in Saco.

She was born in Biddeford on November 13, 1959, a daughter of Woodrow and Madelene (Quint) Perrigo. She attended Saco schools and Thornton Academy.

After high school, Shari was employed as a Production Specialist for Fairchild Semiconductor from 1978 to 1988. In 1979, she met her future husband, Mark Rioux, at work and they started dating in 1983. The two were married on May 18, 1985, and they began their new lives together in Portland.  After two years Shari and Mark moved to Buxton where they raised their two wonderful children, Erika and Matthew.  Shari enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her family.  In 1995 the family relocated to Saco, and once her children were out of school Shari went back into the work force, changing careers and working as a caregiver for Home Instead from 2005 to 2012. Her caring and dedicated nature made her perfect for her new career which she found very rewarding, and she cherished the relationships she made.

Outside of her career, Shari enjoyed traveling with her husband Mark. Special memories were made in Florida and Hawaii. Their most memorable and talked about trip was a cruise in 2008 from Venice, Italy through the Mediterranean. Pool parties were another activity at the top of Shari's favorites list and provided a perfect excuse to get family and neighborhood friends together.

Her hobbies included knitting, volleyball and she was a member of the Pink Hat Society. Her number one hobby was meeting with people and spreading love and laughter.

Shari had great faith and was a parishioner of Good Shepherd Parish.

Shari is predeceased by her parents Woodrow and Madelene Perrigo, four siblings: Beverly McNeil, Robert Perrigo, Gary Perrigo, and William Perrigo, brother-in-law Richard McNeil, brother-in-law Roger Tardif, and friend Bill Curit.

Shari is survived by her husband of 37 years Mark Rioux, her daughter Erika Woodman and husband Conrad, her son Matthew and girlfriend Kegan Kimber, grandson Conrad Woodman Jr., grandson Cosmo Woodman, and granddaughter Carmella Woodman.  She is also survived by two sisters, Nancy Tardif and Ruth Foss, sister-in-law Susan Perrigo-Gagnon, and sister-in-law Kim Perrigo, as well as several nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00pm on Wednesday, April 12, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James Street, Saco.  A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, April 13, at St. Joseph Church in Biddeford, with burial to follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Saco.
