Shawn David Cosgrove, 34, of Freeport, lost his battle with depression and addiction on Monday, July 5, 2021 by taking his own life.

He was born in Portland on July 14, 1986 the son of David and Jean (Callahan) Cosgrove. He graduated from Biddeford High School in 2004 and served in the U.S. Navy prior to his career at Bath Iron Works.

Shawn adored his daughter, Ellie Cosgrove, more than anything and spent his most cherished moments camping with her in Rangeley and Moosehead.

He is survived by his daughter Ellie Cosgrove and her mother Jami Pinette; father David Cosgrove and partner Cherie Thomas; mother Jean Cosgrove and partner Dan Rousselle; sister Carla Simard and husband Ernie; Aunt and Godmother Alana Grover and cousins Kristi Sarchi and David Hamilton; Aunt Paula Donatello and Uncle Larry, and cousin Todd Donatello; Aunt Anni Cosgrove; Uncle William Cosgrove; Uncle and Godfather Michael Cosgrove and Aunt Louise, and cousin Alissa Vance; and three of the truest friends: Keith McKenna, Adam Cotsis, and Sam Burtchell. He was predeceased by Grandfather William Cosgrove, Grandmother Joan Cosgrove, Grandfather Ivan Callahan, Grandmother Edwina Callahan, Uncle Lloyd Grover and Great Aunt Phyllis Ambrose.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 9th from 2:30-3:45pm with a Funeral Service at 3:45PM at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James Street, Saco.
