Stephen Bradford Douglas

Stephen Bradford Douglas, 54, of Saco, passed away peacefully at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House on Saturday August 8, 2021 after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Portland, ME on October 17, 1966, the son of Stanley Douglas and Elaine (Gallant) Douglas.

Steve spent a lot of his younger years working on the family farm. He graduated from Scarborough High School and continued his education at MIT school of engineering. For many years he worked as a truck driver for J.B. Hunt before switching gears and going into the lumber business. At the time of his passing, he was a purchasing manager for Eldredge Lumber and Hardware.

Steve met his wife Sandy while working at the OOB Ballpark at the age of 21. He was an amazing step father to her 4 children that certainly gave him a run for his money. He and Sandy enjoyed going on trips together to Florida and seeing concerts any chance they got. Steve was a former league bowler and avid reader.  He was a craftsman at heart and put so much time and love into making beautiful toy boxes for all of his 13 grandchildren. He will always be remembered as the quiet soul in the back of any gathering reading a book just watching the chaos around him.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Sandy Douglas and 4 children, Jennifer Hutchins of Saco, Heather Howard of Windham, Kenneth Hutchins and his partner Samantha of Biddeford, Tanya Philpot and her husband Nicholas of Windham; 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.

He is also survived by his father Stanley Douglas of Cornish, mother Elaine (Gallant) Douglas of Portland, his brothers Kevin Douglas and Deb Densmore of Saco, Warren Douglas and wife Elisabeth of Steep Falls, James Douglas and his wife Julie of Cornish, Christopher and wife Alison of Washington and Jeffrey Douglas of Argentina, his sister Patty Searles of Biddeford, brother-in-law Donald Cyr and sister in-law Sue Griffin; several nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be from 4-7pm on Thursday, August 12, 2021, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James Street, Saco.
