Obituary

Tammy A. Desjardins

Tammy A. Desjardins, 57 of Saco, after a hard-fought battle with cancer passed away Sunday afternoon on February 6, 2022, with her family by her side, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House.

She was born in Haverhill, Massachusetts on July 11, 1964, the daughter of Ronald and Sharon (Johnson) Pike. At the age of 3, the family moved to Saco. She graduated from Thornton Academy, class of 1982.

On April 15, 1988, she married her husband William "Billy" Desjardins.

Tammy's caring and generous nature led her to pursue a career helping others. She was employed as a senior disability consultant. Earlier in her employment, she worked for John Hewitt Associates and also for Aetna. Most recently, she was a disability trainer for OneAmerica and completed her 30 year career in healthcare for Reliance Standard Life in South Portland.

Tammy had great faith and was an active member of United Baptist Church in Saco. She forged many lasting friendships while dedicating herself on the church council, serving as Christian Education Superintendent as well as being a member of the deaconate. She also was a camp counselor at the Royal Family Kids Camp (a camp for children with a history of abuse and neglect) for many years in Ocean Park.

When time permitted, Tammy enjoyed the outdoors. Some of her favorite pastimes were spending time with family and friends on Little Ossipee Lake, going snowmobiling, riding motorcycles with her husband, gardening and taking yearly trips to Aruba.

To know Tammy was to love her, she was authentic and embraced life, making friends and touching so many lives with a simple conversation or one of her uplifting cards. If you ever spent any time with Tammy you always left feeling better about yourself, her love for life was contagious and she was happiest surrounded by her family and friends. Her door was always open for anyone who needed it, especially children.

On all the special holidays she loved to celebrate and the regular days too, she will always be in our hearts and on our minds. She will be deeply missed by all.

She is survived by her husband of 33 years, William "Billy" Desjardins, her children Katrina M. Desjardins and Patrick DeCourcey, Travis A. Desjardins and fiancée Courtney May, Erica J. Ellis and husband Jacob and Kassandra N. P. Perrone and husband Dean. She is also survived by two grandchildren Connor W. Desjardins and Remi M. Ellis, Mother Sharon A. Pike, Father Ronald K. Pike one brother Ronald T. Pike and fiancée Stephanie Davis, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a grandchild on the way. She also leaves behind her beloved Pomeranian Roxy.
