William "Bill" McKay I

Arundel

William "Bill" McKay, 53, of Arundel, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 4, 2023 at home.

He was born in Biddeford on September 19, 1969, a son of James Louis Stanley and O'Keema (McKay) Francoeur. He attended Kennebunk High School.

Bill was employed as a commercial lobsterman for many years. He fished out of Cape Porpoise on his boat the Rebounder.

Other than working hard, Bill had many interesting hobbies. He enjoyed collecting antiques, baseball cards were his specialty. He also followed all New England professional sports, this included the New England Patriots, the Boston Celtics and the Boston Red Sox.

Bill had a great love of family and a special affection for his dogs, cats and ducks. His family meant the world to him. The family made many special memories that they will hold on to and cherish forever.

Bill had a strong personality and a mind of his own. Sometimes he refused to stay silent but always tried to do what was needed in a meaningful and just way. He was relentlessly optimistic and always ready to take the lead. He will be sadly missed.

He was predeceased by his father James.

He is survived by his mother O'Keema and her husband Richard Francoeur and grandparents Willis and Anita McKay,

his loving five children, William J. McKay II and wife Sarah, Amanda McKay and husband Tim, Savannah McKay, Lacey McKay and Stacia McKay and five grandchildren Isabella, Brody, Logan, T.J. and Josie. He is also survived by siblings James Saccuzzo and wife Melanie, Thomas James Stanley and wife Lori, Joseph Sparks and wife Amy, Dorothy Stanley, Hollis Stanley, Brandy Gabree and husband Joe and Jonathan Stanley, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be from 11AM-1PM Tuesday, August 8, 2023, with a Funeral Service at 1PM at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, Saco. Burial will be private in Greenwood Cemetery in Biddeford. To view Bill's memorial page or leave an online condolence, please visit www.cotefuneralhome.com
