March 8, 1937 – May 1, 2022

Yvette B. Gobeil, 85, of Biddeford, died, May 1, 2022, at SMMC following a long illness with Alzheimer.  She was born March 8, 1937, in Biddeford, a daughter of Omer and Blanche (Hebert) Nadeau.  She attended Biddeford Schools, graduating from St. Joseph High School with the class of 1956.

She got engaged to Paul, while they were on a double date with their dear friends, Joanne, and Dick Jacques, on Thanksgiving night. She married Paul A. Gobeil on February 23, 1957, at St. Joseph Church, in Biddeford. They enjoyed 39 years together.

Yvette worked at Butler's in her earlier years, and AVX, Inc. in Biddeford for many years, until her retirement. After her retirement, she continued to work for 4 years at St. James after school program.  She loved caring for the kids of St. James School.

Yvette loved going to Biddeford Pool every Summer where she would meet up with her friends, to chit-chat about the recent events. Every Summer she looked forward to returning to the beach!  Yvette especially enjoyed Christmas.  She loved to decorate her home with all her Christmas treasures, it would take her 2 days to ensure everything was just so. Her tree was adorned with homemade ornaments that she had collected over the years.  The Réveillon always began at 6 PM, with just her immediate family, and Paul playing Santa Claus. Later in the evening, extended family and dear friends would join in.  Their home was always open to anyone who wanted to stop by!  Everyone looked forward to enjoying, her Christmas buffet, which always included her Pork pies, and many other delicious items. It always ended with her famous peanut butter and chocolate fudge.  Her grandsons truly enjoyed the fudge and look forward to it every year.  Paul and Yvette were the happiest when their family and friends were there enjoying the holiday.

Yvette and Paul enjoyed skiing and traveling.  They vacationed to Canada, Hawaii, Las Vegas was a favorite.  But the best-loved vacation, was Aruba.  They loved going there annually.
